removed msi-x driver option from the Broadcom bnx interface card


From that I would conclude that this is most likely the cause of the previous issues with this system being intermittently disconnected from the network during periods of high load.

The fix will therefore stay in place, until TEM patch the system (this issue is fixed in RHEL 5.6). I don’t believe TEM have a timescale for patching Linux systems.

Fix:
In /etc/modprobe.conf
# Added option to disable msi-x as suspected it causing network failure.
# should be fixed in RHEL5.6 and above
options bnx2 disable_msi=1
